Responsibilities

Veteran Corps is currently seeking a full-time Field Service Technician/Engineer to act as a site SME in support of the Pocket J Site Visit program.  This position requires extensive travel and is primarily remote work.  Essential duties and responsibilities include:

  • Coordinates all aspects of scheduled/unscheduled unit visits to assigned Pocket J sites in support of the Pocket J Site Visit program
  • Coordinates visits with the sites to be visited and Pocket J field services manager
  • Responsible for responding to calls from Pocket J sites (24/7) to ensure that their sites are maintained at or above defined Operational Availability (AO) objectives
  • Creates and submits (as directed) all post-site visit documentation including trip reports, inventories, and checklists
  • Confers with contractor Program Management and Engineering team regarding concerns about any system’s operation and is responsible for troubleshooting and providing solutions to abnormal technical conditions
  • Demonstrates a high level of computer efficiency, as well as, maintenance/diagnostic programs and software
  • Develops and maintains strong working relationships with our customers, authorized service shops, other service organizations, and product business units
  • Recommends changes to site maintenance strategy and aid in its implementation
  • Adept ability to ensure customer satisfaction with equally appreciative and difficult customers
  • Ensures accurate recordkeeping of maintenance activities in program database

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Associate’s Degree with technical/operational focus plus demonstrable related field engineering experience
  • Minimum 2 years in USAF site support/field service engineering; experience related to or similar to the Pocket J Site support effort preferred
  • Solid knowledge of network connectivity, protocols, network security devices, network types, including fiber optic or Cat5, and common operating systems – Required
  • Solid operational experience operating Link 16 terminals and Situational Awareness Data Link radios (EPLRS radios)
  • Extensive customer interface in a field environment
  • Security Clearance Required: current/active SECRET (required)

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  •  Pocket J experience preferred

Work Environment:

  • Able to work independently and with a team to achieve mission success -- works closely with all FST’s, Program Management personnel, end users, and project stakeholders across the organization
  • Must work collaboratively and effectively with all levels of management and staff within the organization
  • Extensive travel requirements (more than 50%)
  • Non-standard work hours -- must be willing to travel/work flexible hours, weekends and holidays to meet customer requirements
  • Position requires indoor (office, workshop, warehouse) and outdoor work in varying environmental conditions
